- Stuttgart are unbeaten in two after back-to-back victories against Leverkusen and Paderborn.
- Bremen are in better league position than the hosts this Saturday, sitting fifth in the Bundesliga 2026/2027 with 15 points from eight games.
- Stuttgart have won one, drawn none and lost two of their three Bundesliga 2026/2027 home games so far, but have scored six times in this venue.
An open contest in sight
VfB Stuttgart enter Saturday's clash with SV Werder Bremen on the back of consecutive Bundesliga 2026/2027 wins, but it won't be easy to keep up the momentum against a well-organised and tough opponent. Sebastian Hoeneß has done an excellent job with Die Schwaben since taking over as head coach on 3 April 2023, but there's still some way to go if they want to compete near the top of the table.
Stuttgart sit 10th in the Bundesliga 2026/2027 with nine points from their first eight games and they still need to string a winning run together to get ahead of their rivals. They are in good shape, however, after a 4-2 away win over Leverkusen and a 1-0 away victory against Paderborn in their last two games.
Die Grün-Weißen also enter this clash in good nick, although a 2-0 win at home to Hoffenheim last time out was followed by a defeat at Borussia Dortmund in the cup. Daniel Thioune has done a solid job since taking over as Werder boss on 4 February 2026 and his team are a tough nut to crack in the right setup.
Expect goals when two good sides face off
Stuttgart will want to take the game to Bremen and their passing style and selective pressing can allow them to increase the speed of the game, but they may not get as much of the ball as they'd like against a side that will attempt to sit deep with a variable back five and spring onto the counterattack. That could be a chess match for possession against counter, which is why we're favouring the over 2.5 goals option at 1.3 for this clash at MHPArena.
Both teams to score at 1.42 is similarly appealing given Stuttgart's home goalscoring record and Bremen's leaky away defence, but we're going for the underdog for the result as Werder come into this in better form and with a better league position than Die Schwaben. Stuttgart should be slightly more likely to win, however, so we're backing Bremen in the double chance market and going for a repeat of the 1-1 draw that was the outcome in their previous Bundesliga head-to-head in Stuttgart six months ago.
Füllkrug and Demirovic can cause mayhem
Given the stats and form of these two sides, it could be a good idea to look to the goalscorer markets for additional value. Niclas Füllkrug is the Bundesliga 2026/2027 top scorer for Werder with three goals in four appearances, having scored seven of their last nine goals overall.
Stuttgart's top scorer in the league is Josha Vagnoman, who has two in his account after four games and can get to the byline from deep areas, while Ermedin Demirovic has supplied four of their last 12 goals across his last five appearances, so he looks a good pick in the anytime goalscorer market this Saturday.
