Barrow’s Blues
Barrow are in a rough patch and seem resigned to their fate, having lost three of their last five matches and the two most recent. They have won just one of their last five games, drawing once and losing three times, including the two most recent.
Under the pragmatic and steady leadership of manager Sam Foley since March 2026, Barrow have employed a compact 4-4-2 system and focused on being solid at the back and frustrating opponents by keeping possession low and countering in numbers, or threatening from set plays.
While Foley’s tactical plans have certainly stabilised the club and helped keep them off the bottom of the table, Barrow are still too easy to break down and have won only four of their 20 home league matches this season (D4, L12) and have scored just 13 goals at home all season.
Josh Gordon is Barrow’s top scorer with eight League Two goals in 29 appearances, two of which have come in the Bluebirds' last four games.
Walsall’s Wickets
Walsall have had a better season than Barrow and are enjoying a more comfortable campaign closer to the top of the league table than the bottom, but they’ve also stumbled lately with just one win in their last five, drawing twice and losing twice.
Darren Byfield took the reins of the Saddlers in March 2026 and has overseen a transition to a more direct, wing-driven style of football which has seen Walsall move the ball at a high tempo and press opponents in advanced positions to try and force turnovers.
Barrow and Walsall have both lost their last two matches, but Byfield’s style of play seems more equipped to deal with the compact, frustrating style of Barrow. A game where both teams have been in slumps could be broken by Walsall’s direct approach and Barrow’s need to be positive when they get the ball, but we think Walsall’s attacking talent will edge the match.
Daniel Kanu leads the line for Walsall with 15 goals in 37 League Two appearances and has scored two of Walsall’s last six.
Walsall are in good form away from home in League Two, winning nine, drawing six and losing six away from home. They score an average of 1.38 goals per game away from home, while Barrow’s defensive frailties should give the Saddlers plenty of chances on Saturday.
Barrow’s Block
We’re going for an away win for Walsall as they have a better away record and a more potent attacking record. We think they’ll take three points, but we’re also expecting a high scoring match and for Byfield’s Saddlers to keep Barrow off the scoresheet.
Walsall to Win at 13/10, Over 2.5 Match Goals at 1/1 and Both Teams to Score - No at 91/100 are our best bets for Saturday’s game, with a tentative fancy on 2-0 Walsall on the Correct Score market.
