- Recent form: Barrow have won one of their last five games (D1, L3), including losing their last two.
- Head-to-head: Barrow have won two of their last three games with Walsall, but Walsall have never won on their two previous visits to Barrow.
- Home form: Barrow have won just four of their 20 home games all season (D4, L12).
Two struggling sides do battle in the North West
Barrow FC currently sit 23rd in League Two with 33 points from 42 games. Sam Foley has performed a steadying influence on the club since his appointment in March 2026, but he has not yet found the formula for success that will pull Barrow away from the bottom of the table.
Walsall FC are having a much better time of it in 12th place in the 2025-2026 League Two season. They have 62 points from 43 matches, but their form has been erratic of late, picking up just one win, two draws, and two defeats in their last five matches. They are also currently on a two-game losing streak.
Back the Saddlers to find their scoring touch
Recent meeting and form
Barrow and Walsall met just five months ago in League Two, with Barrow coming away with a 2-1 win. Both sides are in the midst of losing streaks, but Walsall’s more direct approach and superior attacking options should be enough to break down Barrow’s defensive strategy.
Tactical battle
Barrow’s preferred formation under Foley is a 4-4-2 that sets up a deep, compact block and relies on low possession percentages, quick counterattacks, or set-piece threats to get forward. Darren Byfield’s Walsall approach is similar in terms of directness, but they like to play a wide game and attack with the ball at pace, pressing selectively in advanced areas to force turnovers.
Prediction
The Saddlers will try to stretch the game wide and create space for themselves, while Barrow will look to frustrate the visitors and hit on the counter. However, given that Walsall have scored 1.38 goals per away game this season in League Two (W9, D6, L6), and Barrow have won just one of their last five games, I expect Walsall to get the three points here.
Best value in goals markets?
Barrow have scored just 13 home goals all season and Walsall haven’t found the net much better recently, so odds of 2.0 for Over 2.5 goals looks a bit short.
While I do think there will be goals in this game, I expect the superior defence of the visitors to keep the hosts at bay. I am taking the odds of 1.91 on Both Teams to Score - No for the main selection, while Walsall to win at 2.3 looks a great value in the correct score market.
- Both teams have some firepower in attack, however, and Josh Gordon (Barrow) has scored eight goals in 29 League Two appearances this season, including two of his team’s last four.
- Similarly, Daniel Kanu has scored 15 times in 37 appearances for the Saddlers, including two of Walsall’s last six.
