- Aston Villa have been successful in six of Aston Villa's last six away games.
- Evanilson has scored three of Bournemouth's ten goals across their last five in all competitions.
An evenly matched EFL Cup clash awaits
Bournemouth will be eager to avenge the last two H2H meetings that they've failed to win at home against Aston Villa in this competitive yet exciting EFL Cup 2026-2027 encounter at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth come into this one in a solid 4-3-3 run of results across their last ten in all competitions, a sequence which was kicked off by a 5-1 loss at Chelsea which they followed up with a 3-0 Europa League victory at home to SK Sturm Graz, before last time out beating Sunderland by a 2-0 scoreline in the Premier League.
Villa arrive as the form team in this clash, having won seven, drawn two and lost just once across their last ten in all competitions. The Villans come into this having just put a whopping Fenerbahce side to the sword in a 6-0 hammering at Villa Park, before beating Newcastle 1-0 away in the PL and Viking FK by a 3-1 score at home in this very competition last time out.
Stick with the visitors
Bournemouth are a slight favourite here at 29/25, but we're going to stick with the away side at a better price at 2/1, with the draw coming in at 13/5, for the following reasons:
Marco Rose has Bournemouth playing an entertaining brand of football that will suit this competition, the 4-2-3-1 system gives them a high-tempo approach with a high-pressing game to win the ball back, then they burst forward to score with pace.
Unai Emery has his Villa side in a more structured and disciplined 4-2-3-1 system, that can compact in a number of blocks and then burst into life when they win the ball. They are the far superior side in terms of recent form and have a better away record this season, so they are our choice here.
The draw and both teams to score
Over 2.5 goals at 7/10 is definitely fair for this game given the tempo and high-pressing approach of the hosts, while both teams to score at 3/5 is also a good fit, so we're sticking with the both market here.
Whilst we believe Villa will come away with the victory, this will be a tight and exciting clash, so it's worth chancing the tie on the double chance market.
