Well-versed Blues should have enough to see off Villa
Chelsea FC Women are third in the Super League Women 2025/2026 table after picking up 37 points from 18 matches and have won their last three home games.
Sonia Bompastor took over at Kingsmeadow in May 2024 and has implemented a well-disciplined possession-based system that can be adapted to different situations and opponents. The Blues have their reliable deep-lying playmaker to dictate play, full-backs who push forward and width to stretch games, while the team remains stable and well-organised even when out of possession.
Chelsea (W) have scored an average of 1.67 goals per game at home this season and conceded just 0.56 per game, and their solid home form should see them comfortably clear Aston Villa (W) on Sunday.
Bompastor’s side are the clear favourites to win at 1/5 and probably deserve to be shorter in the betting, with the Blues winning seven of their nine Super League Women 2025/2026 home matches.
Villa still finding their feet
Aston Villa (W) have failed to win in their last two visits to Chelsea (W) and are still finding their footing under Natalia Arroyo’s new management. The Spaniard came in January 2025 and her philosophy is slowly being implemented in the squad, but they are still a little inconsistent in their performances.
Arroyo has a wing-back setup that makes Villa hard to play against and sets up to press Chelsea (W) high up the field, trying to force mistakes and hoping to hit the hosts on the break. This style is still in the process of being implemented and has seen Villa (W) struggle defensively, particularly on the road.
A big ask for the visitors
Villa (W) have won just three of their Super League Women 2025/2026 games away from home, losing four and drawing twice, and currently sit eighth in the table with 20 points from 18 games.
Arroyo’s team has managed just one win in their last three away matches and has conceded 16 goals on the road. Chelsea (W) should have the quality to break down Villa (W) at least a couple of times on Sunday, but Villa have a great goalscorer in Kirsty Hanson, who is worth a punt to score any time. Hanson has scored ten league goals in 18 appearances this season and has three of Villa’s last seven Super League Women 2025/2026 goals to her name. Alyssa Thompson is Chelsea’s main danger at the top of the pitch with seven goals in 16 league games.
Chelsea (W) should win this one, and it is also expected to be a high-scoring affair at 21/50 in the over 2.5 goals market.
