Punishing Getafe can punish Osasuna
Pepe Bordalás’ Getafe side are a compact, direct and punchy team in the mould of a 4-4-2 that looks to press the opposition high up the pitch and be ruthless in transition. On paper, they shouldn’t be as high as seventh in the table, but their consistency and discipline has put them there with 45 points from 35 games.
Luis Milla has contributed nine assists in LaLiga this season and looks to be the creative hub of this team, while Mauro Arambarri has chipped in with six LaLiga goals - more than anyone else in the team - and provides the firepower from midfield that is needed in Bordalás’ system.
Getafe have won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five but are at home on Saturday where they have won six, drawn three and lost eight of 17 LaLiga fixtures. The hosts have scored 14 goals at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez and should get on the scoresheet against Osasuna.
Osasuna’s woeful away record should be exposed
Osasuna are three points adrift of Getafe in 11th place and head to the capital on a run of four straight defeats in all competitions. They haven’t won any of their last five and have only won two of their 18 away games in LaLiga.
Alessio Lisci has made the Pamplona club more flexible in their approach to games, preferring to build from wide and using set pieces to create chances. Ante Budimir leads the line with 17 LaLiga goals and is a constant threat for the opposition defence, while Raul Garcia has scored two of Osasuna’s last four to suggest he is on a hot streak.
Osasuna have conceded 25 goals away from home this season and are likely to struggle against Getafe’s high press and home advantage. The hosts are 157/100 to win, which seems a bit high for a side at home to a team that is out of form.
Getafe’s discipline should be enough
With Getafe’s direct, transition-based approach clashing against Osasuna’s more patient and wide build-up, we think the more disciplined and better home side will come out on top. The odds of 33/50 around ‘Both Teams to Score - No’ look slightly on the short side and we’re expecting a clean sheet for the winning side.
The odds of 31/20 on over 2.5 goals make it look like this could be an open game with both sides looking to get on the attack. But with Osasuna’s poor away record and run of results, we’re siding with Getafe to take the game and record the three goals needed to cover the over 2.5 line.
