Not a good time to be a HSV fan
Hamburger SV have been in terrible form so far in the Bundesliga 2026/2027 and if there's one thing that should be evident to all by now it's that the Red Shorts are not going to be getting any better until the new manager arrives and he has time to make his mark.
That slump has only worsened over the last ten days after a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund was followed by a 0-5 thumping at home to Mainz - and they have two defeats in their last two matches heading into Saturday's clash with 1. FC Koln.
The hosts do have one man on fire, though, as Patson Daka has been a livewire for HSV so far, scoring two of their six goals in the last five. However, Köln have their own danger man in the box in Thijs Dallinga, who has two to his name in just one appearance.
Kölner are a much better bet
This game could really go either way, with the bookies offering both HSV and Köln at 77/50 and the draw at 51/20, so we'll be leaning towards the draw for the main pick.
Merlin Polzin has his men set up in a 3-4-2-1 system where they press high and look for quick transitions to hurt the opposition, while René Wagner has moulded a more balanced 4-2-3-1 out of Köln, who will look to stay compact and hit through their shape.
The form guide says this one is for Köln to have, but the Geißböcke are yet to win on the road in the Bundesliga 2026/2027 (D0, L1) and haven't won in their last two away to HSV, so the Volkspark isn't always an easy place to play.
They did lose 4-1 at Stuttgart, their only blot on the copybook, but they've won two of their last three and beat Hoffenheim 3-2 at home.
Both teams to score is priced at 12/25, which looks fair, but we're getting 1-1 or one-goal margin in the correct score market, which still feels live. HSV have looked very fragile at home in this Bundesliga 2026/2027 campaign, while Köln have proven resistant away.
