Foxes are feeling the squeeze
Leicester City and Doncaster Rovers meet at King Power Stadium on Saturday in what could be a very interesting football match between two teams with contrasting styles.
The Foxes have been much maligned in their early campaign in League One and the 2016 Premier League champions have a lot of ground to make up even if the Foxes do show enough life to suggest a return to form is on the horizon.
Russell Martin has been trying to instil his football philosophy in the squad and they play a possession-first, play-out-from-the-back style, but the high line has been exposed a couple of times already with the ball coming back at them too quickly.
The visitors could be the team to exploit this as Doncaster have been in fine form and arrive in strong nick.
Dags are in good form
Doncaster have won their last three in all competitions with a 2-0 away win over Peterborough United and a 1-0 home win against Burton Albion coming in the league.
Grant McCann has them set up as a pragmatic side that will look to play wide and stay compact in the middle of the pitch. Doncaster should be able to make the most of their moments on the break in this fixture and with Leicester looking leaky at the back, we could be in for plenty of goals on Saturday.
Opposing Leicester is the play
Leicester are the bookies' favourites to win this match at around 3/4 with Doncaster coming in at 31/10 and the draw around 59/20. The hosts are likely to have just enough quality to edge it, but we feel this is a lot closer than the odds suggest and with Doncaster in such good form we are going to take the value on the visitors.
Anytime goals markets don't appeal either as Leicester play very open footy and Doncaster should be confident enough to get on the scoresheet, so over 2.5 goals at 11/20 looks the cleanest bet in this game.
Donny can disrupt Foxes' gameplan
Doncaster have won one, drawn one and lost two of their four League One 2026/2027 away matches, scoring five times on their travels. Doncaster's Alfie May has scored two goals in seven League One appearances, but can be dangerous on the counter-attack.
Emil Riis Jakobsen leads Leicester's scoring charts with two goals in three appearances and the Dane looks the most reliable finisher that the home side have at the moment. Louis Page has been a creative spark for them with three assists in six League One 2026-2027 games.
This is a rare league clash and the first since 1994, so it is hard to draw conclusions from previous games between these sides. But Leicester are feeling the pinch after two straight defeats and Doncaster have the momentum to send them into the international break on a third straight win.
