- Wycombe have conceded 12 goals in 5 home league games this season (average 2.40 goals per game).

Wanderers have more edge but this game has Notts written all over it
Tom Hounsell took the helm on 8 September 2026, and the Chairboys boss has shown his tactical flexibility in the 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 mid-block systems so far. That's because he has to, given this week's opponents Notts County play a 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2 system that relies on wing-backs to provide the width and vertical combinations for the centre-forward and number 10 to link up.
Martin Paterson has done a great job with the Magpies since 22 June 2025, moulding a side that is always disciplined and solid in structure, yet strong on the counter-attack. So, there's a clash of styles here that will probably be won by which side gets the better of the other on the flanks, but that won't be clear until the game gets going.
Wycombe's Jayden Wareham has been their most reliable out-and-out forward so far in League One 2026-2027, having scored three goals in his last four appearances, so he looks like the best anytime goalscorer bet against a Notts County defence that has been leaky all season.
The Magpies are searching for their first away win of the campaign after four games on the road in which they've scored a measly four goals, so they'll have to be very accurate in the final third to get a result. Oliver Cooper is their most clinical finisher, having slotted two of their four goals during the last five-match spell to keep Notts County ticking over.
Paterson’s Magpies are still hunting for their first road win
Overall, Cooper is Notts County's leading scorer with three goals in seven appearances and although the rest of the team are in poor form (W1, D1, L3), the front two have kept up the good work to keep Notts County in the hunt. After a 2-1 home win over Grimsby Town in the EFL Trophy, the 2-2 home draw with Reading and 4-1 victory over Bristol Rovers in the EFL Trophy should have kept the team buoyant.
Hounsell has done a decent job since taking over in September, but Wycombe are winless in five at Adams Park in League One 2026-2027 (D3, L2), which keeps this one live for the visitors. However, at 15th with 10 points from nine games, the Chairboys are ahead of 22nd-placed Notts County, who have seven from eight.
There are too many variables at play to confidently back the visitors at 49/20, although the draw at 51/20 is also a shade of odds too short. Wycombe should have the edge, but we're sticking with the hosts at 1/1 because there is a good chance this will be a cagey, but lively affair with the Wycombe home issues giving the Magpies a chance. Over 2.5 goals at 4/5 looks like the cleanest way in while Both teams to score at 31/50 is only a shade of odds too high.
