Posh picking up after slow start
Peterborough United are beginning to show signs of life under Robbie Savage, who has overseen a run of three wins from the last five games, having taken over on 2 October 2026. The Posh have beaten Ipswich Town U21 4-1 at home in the EFL Trophy and Leicester City 3-1 away in League One during the last week and there's enough to suggest that Savage's front-foot, possession-based approach is starting to click.
Burton Albion, who will come and play a different sort of game on Saturday, are a far from straightforward prospect for the home side, however. Gary Bowyer's Brewers, who have played under his tutelage since 17 December 2024, have been moulded into a compact and pragmatic side that can punish sides in transition and from set pieces.
The Brewers are having a mixed season in League One 2026-2027, sitting 10th with 12 points from ten matches, compared to Peterborough's 20th place and eight points from nine, but they have lost three and won two of their last five. A penalty-shootout win at Grimsby in the EFL Trophy has certainly provided some momentum to the visitors, but Burton are conceding too many goals for their own good.
Brewers will make it difficult for the hosts
Backing Peterborough to win outright at 21/25 is good enough for a slight punt on this match, but the best approach will be to look for a home win or both teams to score. Burton have won two and lost three of their five League One away matches and have scored just 0.80 goals per game on average on their travels while conceding 1.40.
Harry Ashfield has three of Posh's seven goals from the last five and he comes into this fixture as their form man up front. Ben Woods is the league's highest Peterborough marksman with two, however, and that should provide the home side with a reliable outlet in the final third. Jack Armer has three in eight for Burton and is their top scorer in the league, so he is the danger man in the box for the visitors.
The clash of styles should make for a cagey affair, but with Burton allowing the opposition too many chances and Peterborough sharp enough to take them, both teams to score at 11/20 and over 2.5 goals at 31/50 are solid wagers.
