Wingate & Finchley have their work cut out
Ahmet Rifat's Wingate & Finchley side have been solid and savvy this season, and it's no surprise that they achieved April 2026 Velocity Cup success. Rifat has made his team difficult to play against, they have a clear structure and shape, sit in a mid-block, have two holding midfielders, and hit teams on the counter-attack with quick balls into the wide channels.
Wingate haven't been in as good form as Cray lately, with their last five games ending in three consecutive draws with Lewes, Whitehawk and Welling United, a 2-0 win at home to St Albans City and a 4-0 defeat away to Chatham Town. Gianluca Botti is their main threat going forward, Loïc Hernandez offers a real burst of pace and width, and Charlie Grainger is an excellent goalkeeper who can keep the visitors in the game.
Alex Hernandez is Cray's main threat, he was high on the 2025-26 scoring charts and he has the ability to hurt a Wingate side who could do with goals, so we're going for a tight Cray win in the correct score market. With Jordy Mongoy another livewire, not to mention the supporting cast of Max Fiddes, Soul Kader and Harry Waldock who have shared the goals around, we're backing Cray to edge this one 2-1.
