Forest’s pressing can frustrate Bees
Nottingham Forest's Premier League 2026-2027 fortunes are not looking great and The Reds arrive at the Gtech Community Stadium in a bit of a precarious position after taking just six points from their opening eight games (18th).
Oliver Glasner has been in charge of Forest since 6 July 2026, but his 3-4-2-1 system is still a work in progress as the Reds try to integrate wing-backs into a transition-based system.
The visitors' pressing can be disconcerting for opposition teams as they have width to stretch defences and enough of a threat in central areas for an overload in the right places. The game has the potential to be a bit of a chess match rather than a track meet, and Forest will not be chasing a win when they have to deal with a very capable Brentford team.
Bees have enough bite to be at the top end of the table
The hosts should really be in the top 10 of the Premier League 2026-2027 table after taking ten points from their first seven games.
Keith Andrews has been in charge at Brentford since 27 June 2025 and his tighter style of play has maintained the direct nature of the club's previous incarnations. The Bees are a high-intensity pressing side with plenty of speed in their lines to break quickly and a strong set-piece threat at either end of the field.
It is a formula that can make the Gtech a very difficult place for visitors to get a result, but it is not guaranteed to work all the time, as shown by Brentford's latest two league results.
A 2-2 draw at Aston Villa was followed by a 1-2 home defeat to Liverpool, so the Bees are in the thick of the battle at the moment, but still need to make better use of their chances in the final third.
Nottingham Forest can nick it at The Gtech
Brentford's Kevin Schade has registered three Premier League 2026/2027 goals in five appearances and looks set to be their main outlet again this season, so the Bees should have the edge in terms of goal power.
Dan Ndoye has managed just one goal in the same number of games for Forest, so The Reds could do with some more bite up front.
Forest have scored six goals on the road in the Premier League 2026-2027 season at a rate of 1.50 per game while Brentford have scored 2.00 and conceded 0.75 at home.
Brentford are a very slight favourite at 1.97, but the value has to lie with Forest, who are 3.5 here, while the draw is 3.6. The Bees should edge this, but Forest have won the last head-to-head and two of their three away fixtures this season, so this could be a tense affair. Both teams to score is available at 1.62, but 2.1 is a solid Under 2.5 goals price if it turns into a chess fixture.
