- Elche are winless in five home league matches this season, drawing one and losing four.
- Real Betis have won two, drawn two and lost one of their five away league matches this term.
- Real Betis have won the last two LaLiga meetings between the clubs and beat Elche 2-1 five months ago.
Betis’ Champions League charge is on course
Franjiverdes remain in 17th place in the LaLiga 2026-2027 table with 10 points from 11 games and the pressure of the drop zone is already getting to them. Elche have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five matches in all competitions, a run which is not good enough to ease their relegation fears.
Their last two fixtures have seen them win 1-3 at regional third tier club Atletico Pinatarense in the Copa del Rey before a 0-1 home defeat to Valencia. Martín Anselmi has kept his side playing a build-from-the-back game, using flexible 3-4-2-1 and 3-5-2 systems to spring the odd trap and make life difficult for the opposition in transition.
Elche's main goal threat is Fer Nino, who has bagged five goals. His strike force is supplemented by Ezequiel Ponce, who has scored two of Elche's six in the last five, so back the former Watford forward to add to the tally here.
Pellegrini’s plan is working at Betis
Verdiblancos are in fourth place on 23 points from 11 matches and they arrive at the Estadio Martinez Valero with their Champions League ambitions fully intact. A 0-0 draw at Celta was followed up by a 2-1 win over Malaga in LaLiga before a 2-1 defeat away to Borussia Dortmund in the League Phase of Europe's elite club competition. It is a decent, if slightly patchy, return of two wins, one draw and two defeats in their last five across all competitions and Manuel Pellegrini's 4-2-3-1 is beginning to find it's stride. Isco and the wide men are creating space and time in the central areas. Juan Hernandez has two goals in seven LaLiga games so far and remains Betis' top scorer in the Spanish top flight, although he will never be the best goal poacher in a Pellegrini team. The visitors are the more likely winner here as Elche are still without a home win in LaLiga but the hosts can get a goal too.
Elche can grab a goal against the run of play
Elche should be patient at the start and try to get their wide men into the game, but they need to be quicker once they are over Betis' press as any sloppy pass could see them caught out on the break. The visitors are solid enough to soak up the pressure and dangerous enough to do some damage on the counter-attack.
Betis should nick it, however, as they look the more accomplished side with the better away record and their superior ability should tell towards the end of the game. Back the Verdiblancos to win at 2.14.
Both teams to score looks good value at 1.55 as well and there looks to be a few goals here, so over 2.5 goals at 1.65 looks the right call too.
