Manchester City are currently sitting in 2nd place in the Premier League 2026/2027 table with nine points from a possible nine, while Sunderland are in 14th place with four points from four games.
City have been in fine form to start the season, winning all three of their Premier League 2026/2027 games and coming into this off the back of two consecutive wins against Crystal Palace (1-4, away) and Coventry City (1-0, home) before a 0-2 win against FC Porto on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League.
The Citizens are set up to play a possession-based, positional game under Enzo Maresca, who likes his side to overload the wide areas of the pitch and press when necessary. The hosts have been excellent in the first few games and are definitely the likeliest winners on Sunday, but Sunderland's new boss Régis Le Bris has his men set up to be a flexible side who can sit deep and press high, or set up compact and try to hit fast on the counterattack.

Manchester City are the clear favourites here at 1.25, which seems a little short considering that Sunderland have already lost away from home this season. There is a lot of value in the draw at 5.25, but we think that City can take this one, so we're sticking with the home win.
The Black Cats have picked up some decent results so far, but they've also had some slip-ups along the way. Sunderland have two wins, one draw and two defeats in their last five, which seems to be the norm for this team right now.
We think that Sunderland can keep this game tight, but City have too much quality and we're expecting a home win here. Sunderland may have been better in their most recent two games, but a win to nil for City is too short, so we're going for the BTTS - No bet at 1.75 as our main wager.
