- Manchester United have won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five in all competitions.
- Tottenham have won none, drawn two and lost three of their last five in all competitions.
- Manchester United have conceded three goals in two home league matches in 2026-2027, so there is evidence to suggest Spurs can hurt them.
Red Devils may have the edge
Manchester United are slight favourites with the bookmakers at 1.72 ahead of Tottenham (4.2) and the draw (4.0) ahead of Saturday's Premier League 2026/2027 matchup at Old Trafford.
It is tempting to back the away side at those odds as Spurs have had a worse start to the season under Roberto De Zerbi (since 31 March 2026) than Michael Carrick's United (since 13 January 2026), but there are many reasons to suspect the Red Devils will have the most to say come full-time.
Spurs have lost their last two, going down 3-1 away to Liverpool in the EFL Cup and 2-3 at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League, while United are undefeated in the last two head-to-heads (1 win and 1 draw).
Carrick’s clear instructions create counter-attack opportunities
United are 12th in the 2026/2027 Premier League with five points from their first five, while Spurs are in deep water in 20th place with a measly two points from a possible 15.
The game is likely to be a good one because Carrick's 4-2-3-1 system generally morphs into a narrow 4-2-4 shape where the ball is played short, then blasted vertically and the team presses hard on the front foot to try and force a turnover.
This can certainly lead to some messy fixtures as Tottenham can pick the ball off when United are over-committed and it could all hinge on how the two midfielders fare in their battles on Saturday.
De Zerbi's side, generally a 4-3-3, are built on positional play, quick transitions and well-organised pressing in midfield and the half-spaces. They have yet to win away in the 2026/2027 season with one draw and one defeat on the road and will be desperate to register a victory on Saturday.
Fernandes is the ace in the hole for Red Devils
Both teams to score is priced at 1.5, and over 2.5 goals is the same, so the market is expecting both teams to create chances and for the game to be an open affair.
Bruno Fernandes is United's big advantage on paper because he is the top scorer in the Premier League 2026/2027 with three goals from five appearances. Conor Gallagher has been Tottenham's main man in the league with one goal from three appearances and he has also scored two of Spurs' last three in their five matches.
We are taking a narrow win for the Red Devils, who have won and lost one home match each in the 2026/2027 Premier League, because they ought to have the advantage on home turf.
But with Tottenham struggling and Old Trafford not exactly a fortress for Carrick's men, we are having a small flutter on the draw no bet market in case the visitors come good.
