- Millwall have won the last two head-to-head meetings, while they've won two of their three Championship trips to Ashton Gate.
- The Lions have two wins, a draw and two defeats in their last five (W2, D1, L2), winning each of their last two games.
- The Robins have three wins, three draws and four defeats in their last 10 in all competitions and are still seeking consistency under new boss Michael Skubala.
Lions can keep Robins at bay at Ashton Gate
The Lion's have had Bristol City's number of late, winning the last two meetings including a 2-1 victory at Millwall's home in the Championship 2025/2026 and this fixture looks no more likely to break their way based on the performances they've turned in so far under Michael Skubala and Alex Neil, respectively.
Skubala's style of play is already evident across Bristol City's last five matches (W1, D2, L2) where the Robins have gone from a slow, stuttering start to a more cohesive, if still somewhat erratic, unit.
City have drawn their back-to-back Championship games and were beaten 1-0 at home to Walsall in the EFL Cup last time out, but there's definitely more purpose behind them. Skubala looks to have the team playing his style of football and they've been more proactive in the way they've been pressing and then switching the ball quickly on the counter.
Neither side are yet convincing enough to back
Lorent Tolaj is still their sharpest edge as the Kosovan's three goals in five matches has seen them hit the net eight times across that same span. However, we've seen enough of the hosts so far to suggest they are not yet a ruthless side and they'll need to be ruthless to put away a team like Millwall.
Neil has had the Lions locked in since taking charge in December 2024, making them a disciplined, compact and tough to break down unit that are always ready to pounce.
The visitors arrive in better form than the hosts with two wins, one draw and two defeats in their last five, and they have won their last two on the bounce. Millwall have two wins, two draws and three defeats in their seven away games in all competitions, conceding just 1.00 goals per game on average which suggests this will be a tight and scrappy affair.
Back the draw or the away team
While Bristol City are 36/25 favourites here, Millwall are just 17/10 so it's a little surprising that they are not quite as short as the home side and the draw is 49/20.
We'll take Millwall or the X in this one and if you prefer to play the markets, BTTS at 7/10 looks like the cleaner play with under 2.5 goals at 17/20 also very much fitting the bill for a trench war of a game.
