Can Beer-Sheva bounce back?
Just 48 hours after losing to Vikingur Reykjavik in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Qualification 2026 tie, Hapoel Beer-Sheva get another chance to beat the Icelandic side this time at Haladas Sportkomplexum in Hungary. Ran Kozuch has been at the helm since 1 July 2024 and he's implemented a relatively structured 4-3-3 system, with his side playing with patience in possession, width and selective pressing.
Hapoel come into this with a 4-game losing streak following defeats to Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Vikingur, so they're hardly in the best of form. However, the Israel side have scored 19 goals in their last 10 competitive games (1.90 per game) and they pack a real bite up top, so that's a concern for Sölvi Ottesen's side.
Vikingur will make Beer-Sheva work for it
The Vikingur boss has been in charge since 20 January 2025 and he has constructed a compact 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 hybrid system that is built for discipline and transitions. They're happiest when in a low-to-mid block and then releasing their forwards on counter attacks and set-pieces.
Vikingur have conceded 12 goals in their last 10 across all comps (1.20 per game), which is a relatively good stat for a side that is better at breaking than stopping. They beat Beer-Sheva 2-1 just two days ago before slipping to Thor Akureyri, so they still have some momentum to carry into this one.
Both teams should score
Vikingur have a better record than Hapoel, but Hapoel are on a losing run here and we think Vikingur can keep things close, even if they ultimately come up short in the market. We're backing Over 2.5 goals at 17/20 and Both Teams to Score at 41/50 here, as this should be a lively and free-flowing game.
Hapoel are the favourites at 7/10, with Vikingur at 39/10 and the draw at 29/10, which is fair enough considering Beer-Sheva have more talent in their ranks, but the playing styles of these two sides makes us think that patience will battle it out against resistance.
