Vikingur Reykjavik hold the edge
Vikingur Reykjavik head into their UEFA Champions League qualifier with Hapoel Beer-Sheva on Tuesday as the slight favourites. The Icelandic side are 32/25 with Hapoel priced up at 187/100 and the draw at 5/2.
Hapoel's form has been poor of late, they've won two and lost three of their last five and their most recent two games have been home defeats to Maccabi Tel-Aviv, 1-2 in the State Cup 2025/2026 and 1-3 in the Super Cup 2026.
Across all competitions, Hapoel have won five, drawn one and lost four of their last ten, a run which has included far too many slip-ups to be considered favourites against Vikingur. On the road, they have fared much better than at home though, with three wins, one draw and one defeat, so they are a threat to travel to Iceland and nick a result.
Hapoel to find it tough
Vikingur have started their domestic season in fantastic fashion, and they have won eight of their last 10. Vikingur have hit three against KA Akureyri, before beating Gyori ETO FC 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League Qualification 2026 before drawing 2-2 away to the Hungarian side. Daniel Hafsteinsson has been their talisman in Europe, hitting two goals in two UEFA Champions League Qualification 2026 matches to lead the scoring charts for the hosts. Aron Elis Thrandarson has also been in good form, hitting three goals in his last five appearances, providing three of Vikingur's 10 goals during that run.
Vikingur’s momentum to carry them to victory
Soelvi Ottesen's side are playing with plenty of bite at the moment, they have mixed possession football with some excellent pressing play and they've been able to maintain a compact shape to protect their leads.
Ran Kozuch has his Hapoel side in a 4-3-3, one which is designed to attack, but they will also press high up the pitch and cause turnovers. Their shape should allow them to stretch the pitch and try to pull a few players out of position, but if Vikingur can win the ball high up, then this could be a gritty, transition based affair.
It's hard to split these two in this fixture and this looks like a close European tie. However, Vikingur's superior current form, especially at home, means they have a clearer path to the win here, so we're going with Vikingur or draw on Tuesday.
