- Inter sit top of Serie A 2026/2027 with 19 points from seven games, compared to Fiorentina's 19th-placed four points from the same number of matches.
- Inter have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches across all competitions (W3, D1, L1), while Fiorentina have won two, drawn one and lost two of their most recent five in all competitions (W2, D1, L2).
- Inter have won four of their four Serie A 2026/2027 home matches, averaging 3.75 goals scored and 1.50 goals conceded per game. Fiorentina have won one and lost two of their three Serie A 2026/2027 away matches, averaging 1.67 goals scored per game.
Two clubs at different ends of the table
Fiorentina have enjoyed some success against Inter over the years, but a 1-1 draw at their own ground in the last encounter between the two clubs in Serie A 2025/2026, coupled with their current lack of form, sees the Viola arrive at Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday as massive outsiders.
This is a fixture that Inter cannot afford to take their eye off the ball in if they are to maintain their position at the top of Serie A 2026/2027, where they have picked up 19 points from a possible 21 after seven games. It is equally true to say that Fiorentina are coming here on the back of two straight defeats, a 2-1 away loss to Genoa and a 1-3 home loss to Como, but still represent a potential banana skin in the form of the two matches they have made Inter work for in recent years.
The Nerazzurri arrive on the back of a fine 3-0 home win over AC Parma and a tremendous 1-3 away win at Bologna, with a wild 3-4 Champions League home loss to Club Brugge in between. Cristian Chivu has them playing a high-tempo 3-5-2 system built around pressing the ball and breaking with pace and power.
Viola will play for the double chance
Paolo Vanoli has his Viola in a similar groove, but a flexible 4-2-3-1/4-1-4-1 system that leans on midfield control and wide rotations. Franco Mastantuono, who has scored three of Viola's eight goals in their last five games, is a key player in this system and a decent punt to score at any point in the game this weekend.
We have to recommend the Inter at 17/50 as the best starting point for this encounter, even though Fiorentina will come into this game as they always do, to wind up the hosts. However, the 37/5 about the Viola and the 39/10 about the draw are also far too short for a fixture where the hosts are likely to have the edge.
Our preferred punt here is for Inter to win and both teams to not score, because the Nerazzurri should edge matters at home, where they have scored 15 and conceded six this season, while Fiorentina have scored five on the road. The wing-backs pressure of Inter's system will test Fiorentina's ability to build up, but if the visitors can get away from the first press, the rotations of their system should create pockets of space.
