Swans on the trail of the Rs
Swansea City look the best team in the Championship after 11 games and are a worthy contender to win at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. Vitor Matos' side have had two weeks to prepare for this clash after edging Millwall 1-0 away before slipping 1-0 at home to West Ham United. The Swans, given the disparity in recent form, Swansea's odds of 97/50 look a bit high for this contest. But there is a reason why this one looks likely to go against the hosts, who have failed to win either of the previous two home meetings. Queens Park Rangers sit ninth in the Championship, but with 17 points from 11 matches, they are still in the mix for the top end of the table. Julien Stephan has done a good job since taking over on 25 June 2025 and his side have plenty of structure, which suits their liking for playing on the deck, overloading the centre and pressing selectively. Swansea are a more compact side and have been more intense than most at pressing and getting bodies in front of the ball.
Swansea’s structure is solid
This could be a cagey affair in the midfield with the Rs trying to play through the middle and the Welsh club trying to take the space away. The visitors have a greater penetration and pace to them, but the recent form lines suggest they will not take the game by the scruff of the neck.
Swansea have won four of their last five and QPR have only lost once in their last five (W1, D3, L1) so there is no point in taking the away team to cover a handicap when the odds are so good. We'll take the odds-on price for Swansea to just edge a close match that looks unlikely to be a walkover.
A draw at 47/20 might just be a bit of value, but 33/25 seems a touch short on the hosts given what has gone before. Backing under 2.5 goals at 17/20 looks a sensible alternative market for a game where the margin looks like being low.
Swansea have the live wires up front
Ilias Chair is the best player either side has to offer and the ex-Gent midfielder, who has made the most of his two chances to score in the Championship this season, gives the Rs their best spark between the lines.
Swansea have Adam Idah, who has been their best finisher so far with three goals in eight games. The Irish striker, who can score and bully defenders in the box, could be the difference in this contest.
Moussa Kounfolo Yeo has scored three of the eight goals that the Welsh side have scored in their last five games and is just as much of a live wire in the final third, so take the draw with both players scoring as our correct score selection for this all-Championship clash.
