Whitecaps are better but Cincinnati can get something from the game
Vancouver Whitecaps are the favourites to win Wednesday's MLS matchup against FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium, but we're inclined to back the home side to at least get something from the clash.
Jesper Soerensen has done a fantastic job with the Whitecaps since taking charge in January 2025, employing a structured 4-3-3 system that has improved the timing of their spacing and counter-press. White's movement and end product make them a constant threat when the game opens up and they have scored 13 times in six away games this term - so they are worth a bet on the double chance option here.
The odds on a Whitecaps win are tempting, but they are too short for our liking at 1.96 when FCC are 3.62 and the draw is 4.11. Pat Noonan's side, who he has led since December 2021, are also in solid nick with two wins and two draws from their last five and consecutive wins from their previous two games.
Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals the play
That's right for this matchup, where the gap between the teams in the table is very real - Vancouver Whitecaps sit second with 32 points from 14 games and Cincinnati 16th with 20 points from 15.
Noonan's approach is very different to Soerensen's as the home team stretch a back three into wide wing-backs, providing lots of width and pace for a central midfield trio to combine with. There are usually goals in this game because FC Cincinnati are always looking to overrun their opponents, but the Whitecaps are dangerous in transition too.
The last MLS meeting between these two sides finished 1-1 in Vancouver and the potential chess match between the two tacticians could make for a cagey affair. But with a bit of an edge, Cincinnati will try to go at Vancouver Whitecaps and the visitors will look to punish the mistakes that could ensue.
FC Cincinnati's last three results have come in mixed MLS and friendly action, but a 6-2 win over Orlando City and a 3-1 win over Burnley in preseason has kept their attack buzzing. We'll take Over 2.5 goals at 1.3 and Both Teams To Score at 1.32 to point us towards another end-to-end contest.
