- Celta have won three of the last five head-to-head meetings, while Osasuna have taken the other two.
- Celta have won two and drawn three of their last five matches in all competitions.
- Osasuna have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five in all competitions.
Celta are the more likely winners
Os Celestes have had the better of the recent head-to-head matchups, winning three of the last five, while the Gorritxoak have taken the other two, including a 2-1 win away in LaLiga 2025/2026. That result will keep the revenge fire burning for Celta and Claudio Giráldez's side have been in fine form since taking over on 13 March 2024.
He has turned Celta into a young, positional and possession-based side that play patient build-up play, rotate their midfielders and pick their spots to press. This will be a test against a disciplined Osasuna side that sit in a compact, disciplined mid-block, press on triggers and look to be as vertical as possible when they win the ball back.
Osasuna are a very different side to the one that Jagoba Arrasate had at the helm, with Luis Ramis keeping them in the same rigid structure since taking over on 1 July 2026. Celta should win this, but the odds and the styles point to a low-scoring, hard-fought affair on Thursday.
Sides will set contrasting tempos
Celta's last three results have been a 2-2 home draw with Academico Viseu, a 4-1 away win over Sassuolo and a 1-1 away draw with Napoli, while Osasuna's last two have been a 0-2 home loss to Al Ain and a 1-1 draw away to Arenas Club de Getxo.
Celta's home form has been much better than their recent overall record with three wins, one draw and one defeat from their last five in all competitions, so Os Celestes have been very sturdy at Balaídos.
But the match tempo that each side will try to set and which one is successful in that will play a large role in deciding the game. Celta will want to dominate the ball, pull opponents out of position and carve them open while Osasuna will look to stay compact and punish mistakes on the counter.
Under 2.5 goals at 7/10 looks the safest passage here, but the sharper wager could be BTTS No at 17/20. Celta have scored nine goals in their last five home games in all competitions and they have the punch to hurt any back four, while the head-to-head history also tells us that this will be a close contest.
