- Riga FC have won seven, drawn two and lost just one of their last ten games in all competitions.
- KI Klaksvík have been more up and down, winning four, drawing two and losing four of their last ten in all competitions.
- Riga FC are a perfect six from six at home in all competitions (W6), while KI Klaksvík have won two and lost one of their three away trips (W2, L1).
All to play for at Skonto Stadium
After their 0-0 draw away at KI Klaksvík in UEFA Conference League Qualification 2026 yesterday, Riga FC will be confident of winning the tie and progressing to the next round at home this Thursday.
The head-to-head series is all square after the sides drew, so this is definitely all to play for at the Skonto Stadium in Latvia.
The hosts will be happy to have had a day to recover and process that match and they will be in good spirits because they have won 7 of their last 10 games this season (W7, D2, L1).
Gula’s side are a classy operation
Adrian Gula's men have been very strong and controlled since the boss took over on 14 January 2025. They favour a 4-3-3 system and have a good balance of possession-based control in the middle third, rotation of the ball through the centre of the pitch and measured tempo.
Gula's goal is to squeeze opponents into mistakes, but yesterday, KI also squeezed them out of their own half, making it a tricky game for both sides. Riga's form heading into this clash, however, is much the better of the two, as KI have won just four, drawn two and lost four of their 10 games since the start of the new campaign.
Powell’s side are a different beast
Magnus Powell has a very different side to work with at KI and their approach and energy is a different kind of beast. They have been direct, fast and aggressive since the New Zealander took over on 1 January 2025 and have been set up to overload the flanks, get crosses in early, hit the second ball hard and disrupt the opposition in transition.
KI can be dangerous, but they can also be exposed and we saw both sides of that on Tuesday. Their recent form doesn't make for great reading, however, as they have lost three, drawn one and won just one of their last five in all competitions (W1, D1, L3).
That sequence includes a 0-5 home loss to KKS Lech Poznan in UEFA Europa League Qualification 2026, a 3-4 away win at AB Argir in the Premier League 2026 and then the 0-0 draw with Riga FC.
KI are capable of troubling Riga
The market makes Riga FC the clear favourite at 1.39, while KI Klaksvík are 7.1 and the draw is 4.7. That is fair enough, but we will be brave enough to back the visitors to avoid defeat at bigger odds.
Powell's men have a solid away record in all competitions, averaging 2.00 goals scored and 1.67 conceded per game, so their games tend to open up away. Riga FC, who are a very good team, average 3.33 goals scored and 1.00 goals conceded at home in all competitions, so it's fair to assume they will control this game.
If they can keep KI Klaksvík out of the wide channels and dictate the pace and style of play in the centre of the field, then Riga should edge this, but if they can't, this could be tight and nervy.
We will take Riga to win and under 2.5 goals at 2.2, while both teams to score is finely priced either way.
