Lazio look likely to win but it will not be easy
SS Lazio enter Sunday's Serie A 2026-2027 clash with Genoa as the firm favourites after winning four of their last five games, but it will be no surprise if they have to fight hard for their win against a Genoa side that can keep things tight.
The Biancocelesti are the team that has changed the most since the two sides met back in Serie A 2025/2026. Gennaro Gattuso, since taking charge on 23 June 2026, has introduced a more direct approach and energy to the team's play. They now play a compact game, designed to thrive on transition where they can win aggressive duels and release their midfield players into the space in front of them.
Lazio beat Genoa 3-2 at home six months ago and have had two games since then. The first was a 2-1 Friendly Club Match victory away to Frosinone and the second was a 2-0 home defeat to Mantova in the Coppa Italia. So it's fair to say it's a mixed bag with no clear story to tell.
Genoa are pressing teams and being rewarded
Genoa, on the other hand, appear to be getting better under Daniele De Rossi, who was appointed on 6 November 2025. They are much more organised, intense and pressing the opposition, which gives them a chance to win the ball back in their half and launch fast breaks down the wings and through the half-spaces.

Lazio have the extra quality to edge this

We like Lazio's chances of edging this on their home turf, but believe Genoa could make it competitive for long periods and have backed Under 2.5 goals at 1.68 and Both Teams to Score - no at 1.72 because Genoa's ability to stay in the game and their players' skill at finishing in numbers means Lazio will have to be at their best to finish the job.
