Motherwell may not have this all their own way
Favourites Motherwell look short enough against HB Torshavn, a team who should have more about them than they are being given credit for. The Well are 1/10 for a home victory, which says it all about how the bookies see this match.
The Scots arrive here with two defeats on the spin after a 0-1 away win at Hibernian, 4-0 away defeat to AGF Aarhus and a thrilling 3-4 home defeat to Racing Genk. The Lanarkshire side may not have this all their own way against the Faroes outfit, who have scored ten goals in their last five away matches.
The visitors come into this in fine form after three straight wins over B36 Torshavn, Skala IF and 07 Vestur Sorvagur. They are in better shape than Motherwell, who have won only one, drawn one and lost three of their last five and have failed to get the better of the Faroes side, who can be a real handful.
Visitors could get on the break
Motherwell boss Alfred Johansson will want his side to control the ball and crank up the tempo on Thursday, with his 4-2-3-1 system designed to overpower HB with possession and his No.10 and wide men stretching the visitor's low block.
But that could open up space in behind for the hosts to break into, which Andre Olsen's side will be more than capable of doing. They are set up to make this tough, stay compact, counter quickly and get in the mix for set-pieces and second balls.
HB's playmaker Mathias Voss is the creator with four assists in his last five appearances and he is a danger man to keep tabs on as the flow of the game will come through him. The hosts are the clear favourite here, but with HB's form and counter attack threat we're giving this the slightest chance of an upset if the Scots get sloppy in the early stages.
Home win with goals the best approach
A Motherwell win is the most likely result here, but the price is skinny. We'll take a home win and goals, as the bookies are suggesting it will be a stroll in the park.
