Bradford can control the game
Bradford have been in scintillating form so far in League One 2026/2027 and their travelling team should be a bit too good for struggling Plymouth in Devon on Saturday.
Graham Alexander's men sit top of the table after a perfect start to the season, a run of form which has seen them follow up a 2-0 cup win over Rochdale and 2-0 success over Peterborough United in the league with a 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.
They have been ruthless at both ends of the pitch during this period and are coming up against a Pilgrims team who have picked up just one point from their two games so far. Tom Cleverley's men appear to be set for another season of struggle near the bottom of the league.
No gulf in quality between these sides
It may be early in the campaign, but there is no doubt that Plymouth are not yet set up to succeed in this league as things currently stand. Plymouth have drawn 1-1 at Wycombe Wanderers, suffered a 1-3 home defeat to Stockport County and then beaten Exeter City in the cup.
Bradford, by contrast, are a well-organised and tough to beat unit that Alexander has expertly shaped in his own image since taking over at Valley Parade on 6 November 2023. With four wins on the spin in all competitions, the Bantams have a momentum about them that should see them avoid a slip-up at Home Park this Saturday.
Home Park isn’t a fortress yet
Their 83/50 favourite's price is a bit on the low side compared to Plymouth's 3/2 and the draw at 12/5, but with an inferior home record (W1 D1 L1) and three goals conceded in one game at Home Park, there's not much to like about the hosts here.
Bradford's superior travel record and the momentum of their four-game winning streak in all competitions make the visitors the likelier winners in this contest, but we're taking Plymouth to keep it competitive based on the fact they are at home.
Plymouth possess enough creativity to make a game of it
It should be possession vs transition at some point on Saturday with both sides pressing high and both capable of executing a high press that demands a lot of energy from players.
Bradford's 3-4-2-1/3-5-2 base is built for vertical breaks and Plymouth's more structured build-up should try to pin them back.
The hosts possess the creative flair to make a good game of it with Bradley Ibrahim (1 assist in 2) and Will Evans (1 goal in 2), their main goal threat.
