About Emmanuel

Emmanuel Petit is a distinguished special guest with whom BetBrain is honoured to collaborate. As his career and resume speak for themselves, his input is invaluable for us and the BetBrain audience.

For those somehow unaccustomed to Emmanuel Petit, he is a former French footballer born in 1970 in the Seine-Maritime department of Normandy. He played professionally between 1988 and 2004, spending the majority of his career in France’s top flight and the English Premier League.

Spending most of his career as a defensive midfielder, Petit was a notably versatile player who blended elegance with strength and tactical awareness with energy, making him an all-around valuable contributor to any team. As a result, he was twice recruited by the notoriously rigorous Arsène Wenger, under whom he played some of his best football.

Petit’s club career began with AS Monaco, for whom he appeared in more than 200 games. Following a successful season as the captain of a league-winning Monaco side, he was reunited with Wenger at Arsenal for a widely successful 3-year period that included a league–cup double in his first season (1997/1998). Following a modest stint at Barcelona and a good but injury-hampered time at Chelsea, Petit retired in 2004.

Despite his very successful club career, some of his truly iconic moments were as a core representative of France’s 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship-winning squads.

His performance against Brazil in the World Cup final, in which he scored and assisted, coupled with his iconic, free-flowing blonde hair, is an image that still garners respect and admiration from football fans.
