Two in form teams prepare for an important clash
Standings and context
The two most in-form sides in the Superliga Championship Group face off on Sunday with AGF Aarhus top of the table on 61 points from 30 games and Brondby IF fifth on 42 points after 30 games.
AGF tactics
Jakob Poulsen’s side have been managed by him since June 2025 and have developed a style of play around ball domination and high pressing. They play with compact formations such as 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 and try to control the center of the field with the midfield triangles and trigger the ball forward to the forward line when they win it back after aggressive pressing.
Brondby flexibility
AGF will need to be wary of Brondby’s flexibility on Sunday as Steve Cooper, who has brought a degree of structure to the club since his appointment in September 2025, can set up his side in a back four or with wing backs. Their width and ability to transition quickly can often open up games that they may otherwise not be able to play in if the game develops into a more rigid, closed affair.
Crucial clash could be a chess match with some drama
Brondby IF’s form is mixed with a gritty 1-0 away win at Viborg, 3-0 away loss to Soenderjyske and a 1-1 home draw with FC Nordsjaelland comprising their last three results. AGF have produced equally uninspiring results in their past three with a 1-1 away draw at FC Nordsjaelland, 0-0 draw at home to FC Midtjylland and a 2-1 win at home over Soenderjyske.
Jacob Broechner Ambaek is Brondby IF’s main attacking weapon with four goals in eight Superliga Championship Group games, three of which have come among the team's last nine goals. Janni Serra is the top scorer for AGF with two goals in eight Superliga Championship Group appearances.
- AGF are the favourites with the bookmakers, which is just about right for the league leaders, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest this will be a close game with little to separate the teams.
- Brondby have won six, drawn four and lost five of their 15 Superliga home games, but AGF have failed to win in their two most recent trips here.
- With such similar records and a lot at stake, we are going with ‘Both teams to score - Yes’ at 1.52 rather than any of the three result markets that still make some appeal with AGF just a shade shorter than we expected at 2.28, Brondby IF at 2.9 and Draw at 3.52.
