- Team form: Cambridge United have won 13 of their 20 home league games, drawing six and losing just once
- Recent form: Notts County have won three and lost two of their last five games, including a 3-1 home win over Newport County
- Player to watch: Alassana Jatta is Notts County’s in-form striker, scoring 15 goals in 29 League Two appearances
An evenly-matched fixture with plenty of goals expected
Cambridge United are on a run of one win, three draws and a defeat in their last five League Two matches, following back-to-back 1-1 draws at home to Swindon Town and away at Cheltenham Town. The U’s currently sit fourth in the division, two points and one place behind third-placed Notts County who have picked up 76 points from 42 matches, compared to Cambridge’s 74 from 41.
The visitors have won ten, drawn four and lost seven of their 21 away matches this season, and they are coming off a good 3-1 victory over Newport County in their most recent home game.
Harris’ U’s have become more solid under his management
Defensive consolidation under Harris
Neil Harris has done a solid job since taking over as Cambridge United manager in February 2025, bringing some much-needed defensive solidarity to the U’s play and making them a tough team to break down. The U’s are among the more cautious sides in the top half of the division, and they’re defensively solid at home, averaging 1.75 goals scored and 0.65 goals conceded per match on home turf.
Opposition threat and tactical matchup
Notts County are an attacking team, they like to press high up the pitch and they have a deadly striker in Alassana Jatta who is in blistering form this season. The Magpies may be able to get on top of Cambridge, but Harris’ side could nick a game with an element of counter-attacking flair.
Home advantage may give U’s the edge
Despite Notts County winning the last meeting between these two sides, we’re siding with the home side on Saturday as the Magpies have won just one and lost two of their last three away games. Cambridge’s home form has been consistent and solid, and they have won one and drawn the other of their two home matches since their 2-0 defeat to Notts County five months ago.
- The odds are juicy at 1.84 for a Cambridge win, so that’s our main bet for this matchup, while Over 2.5 goals and Both Teams to Score - Yes look likely at 2.25 and 2.0 respectively as the defensive resilience of the hosts could well be tested by an in-form Notts County side.
- Cambridge have Ben Knight, who is the club’s top scorer this term with nine goals in 31 appearances, a threat Notts County must be wary of.
