- Team form: Tamworth FC have won four and lost five of their last ten games in all competitions.
- Head-to-head: Carlisle United have won one of the last two head-to-head meetings and Tamworth have not won their last away game against them.
- Home form: Carlisle United have won once in five at home in all competitions, but have only lost one of those five.
Carlisle can keep their heads above water
Carlisle United are the odds-on favourites for this one at 1.53 and that certainly makes the most sense for the home side. The Blues have not had the best of runs in 2026, winning three, drawing four and losing three of their ten games in all competitions, but that's hardly a bad record and they have kept pace with many of their National League rivals during that time.
They have won once in their last five at home, but have only lost once during that spell, and they will be tough to beat for the visitors on Saturday. The most recent head-to-head meeting between these two sides came in National League 2025/2026 and Tamworth FC came away with a 2-1 victory.
Tamworth can make a mark
Robert Elliot's approach
Robert Elliot has been in charge of Carlisle United since 29 May 2026 and he has built his team in a compact 4-2-3-1 shape that is great for absorbing pressure and maintaining their own defensive shape and transitions. His side will be able to handle Tamworth's high-tempo, direct approach in this FA Cup qualifier and will be the more likely team to get in behind, although Regan Linney has been a bright spark for the hosts recently, having scored two of Carlisle's six goals in their last five.
Andy Peaks and Tamworth's style
Andy Peaks has been Tamworth's head coach since 15 February 2022, and his side have gone to the front foot in every game they have played since, playing with wide players who deliver early and high cross-field, and attacking the goal with numbers. Tamworth have won once and lost four times away in all competitions this season, a travel record that should be a worry for the Lambs, who have also lost their last away game to Carlisle.
Handicap the hosts
But this fixture looks set up to be a classic cup match-up between structure and aggression, and we believe the stronger side in terms of control and quality should come out on top in the end.
Carlisle to win and under 2.5 goals is our main selection for Saturday's fixture, while a 2-0 home win makes for an attractive correct score prediction.
- Tamworth have recorded their last three matches as 2-0, 0-1 and 1-2, and their form has been inconsistent, with four wins and five defeats in their last ten.
- Kieren Donnelly has been in great form of late, scoring two of the visitors' goals in their last five, so they will get chances against the home defense on Saturday.
