- Betting trend: Under 2.5 goals is the clear favorite in the goal markets for Saturday’s first leg.
- Chindia form: Chindia finished 6th in the Liga II play-off, earning a place in the baraj after a patchy run.

Tense first leg expected in Târgoviște
Match context
With Chindia Târgoviște fighting for an immediate return to Liga I 2025-2026 and FC Farul Constanta battling to avoid relegation from the top flight, the stakes couldn’t be higher when these two clubs meet in the first-leg of their promotion-relegation play-off in Târgoviște this Saturday. Farul are 1.8 favourites to win the two-leg matchup, but Chindia are 4.2 and the tie is even at 3.3, so the bookmakers are expecting a close and competitive contest.
Chindia outlook
Chindia coach Nicolae Croitoru brought his experience of the promotion game to the club when he was appointed in April 2026. His teams are usually compact and organized, with a number of players to hurt teams on the counter-attack, and his Chindia side will be the more desperate of the two to win on Saturday with their home fans behind them.
Chindia finished sixth in the Liga II playoff and squeezed into the baraj with a win at Corvinul, but also suffered defeats to FC Bihor and Steaua in their recent run-in. They have a number of attacking contributors in their squad, such as Ivan Pešić, Doumtsios, Daniel Florea and Daniel Popa, all of whom have made key contributions to the team in the playoff.
Farul favourites to force their way back into Liga 2025-2026
Farul Constanța’s form has been fragile of late, with a mix of draws and defeats in the SuperLiga play-out, leaving them in the relegation playoff place. Coach Flavius Stoican has done a solid job since his appointment in April and appears to have brought structure to a team that was a little all over the place in the opening half of the season.
The visitors have some good players in their ranks, notably Alexandru Mihai Ișfan, who has bagged double digits for the season and is their primary goal threat, and Ionuț Vînă, who is among the squad’s top assist providers.
Chindia can certainly compete with this Farul team and it could be a cagey affair, especially in front of a passionate home crowd, and with mild spring weather and a chance of rain making it a good night for a gritty battle. Under 2.5 goals, at 1.67, seems overpriced considering the occasion and what’s at stake for both teams.
Chindia can catch an upset in first-leg
Head-to-head and home advantage
Head-to-head meetings have been relatively infrequent in the last few years, but Chindia took the victory when these clubs last met in February 2022, winning 1-0 in Constanta in Liga I. Chindia are the home side on Saturday and may be able to cause a surprise if they can keep the game tight.
Farul strengths and pick
It will probably take one moment of magic or a defensive mistake to settle the contest.
- Farul will be favourites over the two legs and the media and pundits are narrowly siding with the visitors, but there is good value in the home bet at 4.2.
- With Denis Alibec, Eduard Rădăslăvescu and Ionuț Lărie all solid performers for Farul this season, their experience and consistency could be the difference if it goes the distance.
- Back Farul to nick it, but don’t discount Chindia, who have the momentum and home advantage.
