A cagey game is anticipated in Kinshasa
DR Congo
DR Congo started their Africa Cup of Nations Qualification Group E campaign with two wins, beating Equatorial Guinea 2-0 at home and Zimbabwe 2-1 away, but there was a reality check when Sebastien Desabre's team were put to the sword by England in the knockout phase of the World Cup. Desabre has steered the Leopards into a compact and pragmatic team that have a clear identity, sitting deep, keeping the midfield narrow and pressing in numbers when they can.
They are a very efficient side, but not a particularly expansive one, which is a recipe for success on occasion, but not necessarily against the better sides.
Uganda
Uganda are also a hard-to-play-through team, with Paul Put instilling a sense of discipline and organisation in the Cranes since taking over in November 2023. They have made a strong start to Africa Cup of Nations Qualification Group H, drawing 1-1 away to Tunisia before edging Libya 1-0 at home, but they'll need to be a little sharper in possession against DR Congo.
DR Congo can edge a tight game
Uganda are an organised side, but they have a tendency to be on the back foot against better teams and, in truth, DR Congo have the edge in terms of the quality in the team.
However, Uganda are a decent team and will surely keep it tight at the back, so a DR Congo win and under 2.5 goals is the best fit for the numbers.
Uganda have lost one and drawn one of their last two trips to play the Leopards and they have a mixed away record in all competitions of one win, one draw and two defeats.
- Yoane Wissa is the Leopards' danger man with two goals in DR Congo's last five, while Rogers Mato has scored two of Uganda's last five in the same period.
- The last head-to-head finished 1-0 to DR Congo in the 2024/2025 Friendly International and this should be another cagey game.
- DR Congo are a step above Uganda right now and will likely use a low block and selective pressing, so they should be able to get ahead at some point in the game.
