Two sides heading in opposite directions
Ural
Ural Yekaterinburg currently sit 3rd in the FNL 2025/2026 table with 52 points from 29 games. Vasili Berezutski, who took over as head coach in December 2025, has instilled a sense of defensive structure and a real clarity of roles in this Ural squad.
They are a 4-2-3-1 side that sit deep, remain compact and then look to take the ball forward with pace and verticality to try and catch their opponents out.
Torpedo
Torpedo Moskva currently sit 9th in the FNL 2025/2026 after 29 games and they have 38 points on the board. They will be aiming for a late-season surge after a very consistent season in a league where many clubs have been in transition.
Oleg Kononov took over in October 2025 and has immediately made the side more organised and a lot more defensively solid. They like to set up in a compact, pragmatic manner and look to frustrate their opponents before hitting them on the counter or through set-pieces.
This clash is a real test for both sides
This fixture will be interesting as Torpedo are a relatively slow tempo side that like to frustrate their opposition and Ural are the opposite, always looking for a quick transition and a vertical ball. The outcome of this game will probably be decided by whichever team can win the central midfield battle and second balls.
Ural have been in mixed form of late - W2 D1 L2 in their last five, but their last outing was impressive - a 3-0 away win at Sokol Saratov. At home they have been very consistent - W1 D1 L1 in their last three.
Torpedo are on a good run of five games undefeated - W3 D2 - and have shown they are tough to break down at home, beating KamAZ 2-0 last time out. They have also been good on the road recently - W1 D1 in their last two away games.
Ural should come out on top
Prediction
Ural are a really good team and they play with a confidence and belief that they should win football games. I do not believe they will be worried about Torpedo Moskva, who have had a tough season in and out of the pitch.
The oddsmakers favor a home win at 2.06 and I will happily take that, but I will be adding Over 2.5 goals at 2.16 and Both Teams to Score - No at 1.83.
A home victory with a few goals looks on the cards here. Ural will dominate the game and I am confident they will keep Torpedo off the scoreboard.
Players to watch
- Martin Sekulic leads the line for Ural with 6 goals in 27 FNL 2025/2026 appearances and is usually the catalyst for their counter attacks.
- Torpedo’s biggest threat is Ruslan Apekov who has netted 10 times in 24 FNL 2025/2026 matches this season and he will be key to their direct style of play.
