- Krasnodar form: Krasnodar are in the best form, winning four of their last five league and cup matches including a 2-1 win at Spartak earlier this year
- Spartak form: Spartak have been more inconsistent, having ground out three wins, drawn one, and lost one of their last five competitive matches
- Head-to-head: Krasnodar have beaten Spartak twice in 2026 and 2025
Krasnodar can edge Spartak in cup final thriller
Krasnodar will head to Luzhniki Stadium as slight favourites to win the Russian Cup Superfinal against Spartak Moscow on Sunday, but the bookmakers look to be expecting a close and tense game that could easily go to extra time. There are no value odds on either team for this one, with Krasnodar listed at 2.73 and Spartak at 2.64, although we still feel the best play on the game is to bet on Over 2.5 goals at 1.82.
The bookies are right to be wary of the main Russian Cup final because this will be a clash between two clubs with strong pedigree, each looking to finish their season with a piece of silverware. Krasnodar are looking for their first Russian Cup triumph and finished second in the 2025-26 Russian Premier League on 66 points from 30 games, 14 points better than fourth-placed Spartak, who finished with 52 from 30.
Spartak have the better cup pedigree and the quality of a side that should have finished higher in the league with a few more points on the board. But Krasnodar are the form team with Murad Musayev’s tactical skill and squad rotation having taken them through the knockout stages of the cup and helped deliver a strong league campaign.
Match of playmakers can go either way
Tactical contrast
This match of one of the most familiar Russian cup rivalries - Spartak have won 14 and Krasnodar 12 of the 28 competitive head-to-heads - looks too close to call and must go all the way to the end to separate the two. It has all the ingredients for a fantastic game with Spartak looking to attack at a higher tempo than Krasnodar, who are more patient and build-up their play with possession.
Key players
- Jhon Córdoba, one of the league’s top scorers, is the focal point of Krasnodar’s attack and always a threat in the box, while Ezequiel Barco is the creative hub of the team.
- Juan Carlos Carcedo’s team has more pace and directness in the wide areas and both Pablo Solari and Levi GarcĂa can take on players and be a goal threat.
Conditions and verdict
The weather should be ideal for attacking soccer with mild temperatures in Moscow for this game and only a slight chance of showers in the latter stages. Krasnodar have shown more clinical finishing and are more comfortable in tight situations than Spartak, who have been in better form of late but have let games slip from their grasp through late lapses in concentration.
Backing Krasnodar, who have beaten Spartak away in Moscow, looks like the play to make this spring because the team from the Kuban region has the better form, an extra edge to their attack and have been the more stable side this term. Spartak are a work in progress and their attacking players can be unpredictable when they get their rhythm right but we still think the value lies with the visitors here.
