- Recent meetings: Gimcheon Sangmu FC have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five meetings with Jeju United.
- Home form: Gimcheon Sangmu FC have drawn four and lost three of their seven home K-League 1 2026 matches so far (won zero).
- Away form: Jeju United have won three, drawn one and lost three of their seven away K-League 1 2026 trips so far.
Not much between these clubs at Gimcheon Stadium
11th-placed Gimcheon Sangmu FC have collected 14 points from their first 15 matches of the K-League 1 2026 campaign, while eighth-placed Jeju United have gathered four more from the same number of games. So this match could go either way on Sunday.
Jeju failed to win in two previous away trips to Gimcheon, 1-1 draw at Jeju's ground has them coming into this clash and Jeju have failed to bag a win in their last two matches.
The bookmakers have Gimcheon priced at 2.41, ahead of Jeju at 2.87 and the tie at 3.28, but we feel all three of those odds are a little off in the light of the recent record.
Jeju more comfortable on the ball, but Gimcheon will hit on the break
Coaching changes
Seung-Jin Ju took over at Gimcheon on 1 January 2026 and has pushed his team to be a little more aggressive, transition-oriented and willing to change shape regularly than the team of the previous regime.
Sergio Costa took over the Jeju role on 24 December 2025 and his team are more comfortable on the ball, patient in their build-up and have more of a planned verticality to their play.
Tactical outlook
This looks like a classic possession versus transition chess match – with Jeju probing to break it down and Gimcheon looking to nick it on the counter attack. Gimcheon have been leaky at home, however, conceding 12 goals in seven matches and they are slightly favored by the bookmakers here.
Jeju will get the better of the tie if they can score
Although Jeju's away record is more balanced, they have a poor record against Gimcheon and this is one of those ties where the visitor will have to play well to win.
The recent head-to-head record is very even with Gimcheon having won two of the last five, Jeju one and two draws and we see the best way of approaching this tie is to stay on the safer side of the odds, take the lower-scoring bet and hope Jeju can nick the match.
It is tough to split these teams on the current form and the two recent results point to a bit of a wobble for the visitors, but they beat FC Seoul 2-1 at home before losing 2-1 to Ulsan HD away and then 1-2 at home to FC Anyang, so we will swerve that result here.
The Under 2.5 goals line at 1.74 and Both Teams to Score – no at 1.92 look a tad high in the circumstances and we are taking the latter, with a 1-0 Jeju win taken in the exact score market because Gimcheon have been vulnerable at the back at home this season.
- Jeju are the more creative club, however, and Chang-Jun Park, who has netted 2 goals in 11 appearances, will have to provide the spark for them to have any chance of winning this tie.
- Jae-Hyun Go has been the main man in front of goal for the hosts with four league strikes in 14 appearances, while Kun-Hee Lee has also been in the goals of late, scoring two of Gimcheon's six in the last five.
