Sulphurites can make their mark
Harrogate Town are second in the National League 2026/2027 with 28 points from 13 games, eleven places above Sutton United FC, who have 18 points from the same number of matches.
Simon Weaver has been at the helm since May 2009 and seems to have the right recipe for success with the Sulphurites this season.
His team play a three-at-the-back system with wing-backs who stretch the opposition and can deliver from the flanks, and they usually have enough players in the penalty box to put the ball in the back of the net.
This is a team in great form with four wins and one draw in their last five, and the hosts are 1.69 to take three points on Saturday.
U’s not quite good enough
Odds and outlook
The U's are 4.39 to win, while the draw is at 3.52, but there's little reason to wager on anything other than a home win.
Coaching and tactics
Chris Agutter is a young coach who has made a positive impression on the Sutton players since he was appointed last October. He has built the U's around the ball, but they have a little bit of a shape-shifting quality that can suit them well against Harrogate.
Away form
The visitors have won two, drawn two and lost two of their six away league games, indicating that they can be competitive, but have yet to show enough ruthlessness to have a realistic chance of winning against the top dogs.
Harrogate to win
We're taking Harrogate's form to do it for us here and there's no need to look further afield than that for a wager.
Sutton are usually in good control of games, but Harrogate's wide play should stretch the U's while Sutton's possession approach should try to take the tempo out of the game and give them a platform in midfield. Under 2.5 goals at 1.89 looks a tidy alternative bet if this turns into a tight and controlled affair, but Harrogate should have enough quality to get the job done.
- Sutton's last three games have seen them lose 2-0 away at Tamworth, draw 1-1 away and then lose 2-0 at home to Boreham Wood, so it's not hard to see the visitors coming unstuck at EnviroVent Stadium.
- Harrogate are averaging 2.86 goals per home game in the National League 2026/2027 with 20 scored already, so they are potent enough to pull out a win.
