Chungnam Asan can capitalise on Jeonnam’s defensive errors
Tactical outlook
Jeonnam Dragons and Chungnam Asan are in the Korea Cup 2026-2027 but the visitors arrive in much better shape than the hosts for Wednesday's clash. Both coaches favour a three-man backline with flying wing-backs, so the battles wide of centre will determine much of the game.
Hosts' recent form
Hosts Jeonnam have seen their three most recent fixtures highlight some cracks in the squad. Coach Im Kwan-sik's 3-4-3 system is heavily reliant on players being able to press high and cover for each other all over the field, so energy is the key quality that all eleven need.
They drew 2-2 away with a lowly Gimpo Citizen side. Then they played out a wild 3-3 home draw with Busan I. Park and were subsequently thrashed 5-0 at Suwon City.
Cleaner set-up should suit the visitors
Chungnam Asan have looked much the cleaner outfit in their travels this season with only three goals conceded in their five away games in all competitions. They are more of a counter-attacking side and have been better suited to taking advantage of the space that comes when their opponents press high up the field.
André's team are more structured and look more dangerous in transition than the Dragons, so they should be the more likely winner here.
Their last three games have been: a 2-2 draw at Busan I. Park; a 2-0 away win over Gimpo Citizen; and a 1-0 home draw with Gyeongnam FC.
Backing the away win looks a good value option at around 2.6 because both teams are of similar ability, but the form says Chungnam are the stronger of the two right now.
- Min-Ho Yoon has the most cutting edge for Jeonnam, scoring two of their four goals in the last five matches, while Jose Denisson has been Chungnam's sharpest finisher with three of their seven goals.
