- Team form: Komarno finished the Niké liga in the relegation play-off place with eight wins, eight draws and 16 defeats from 32 games.

- Play-off status: Zvolen lead this promotion/relegation play-off 1-0 on aggregate after first-leg victory.
Tense and tight promotion/relegation playoff awaits
Match context
The pressure will be on Komarno to overturn Zvolen’s 1-0 aggregate lead when they face off at the ViOn Arena in Zlaté Moravce on Saturday. The host city is familiar to the 2. liga runners-up, but not the home of Komarno, which could affect the atmosphere and support for the occasion.
The winner of this play-off will secure a sought-after place in the 2026/27 Niké liga, while the loser will have to wait another season in the 2. liga. It is an enormous game for both clubs and could be tense and cautious from the start as Komarno are required to break down a deep-lying Zvolen defence.
Tactical preview
Dušan Tóth’s side will sit deep and use their pacy players to threaten Komarno in transition when they over-commit. The Zvolen coach is a master tactician who has guided the club to this point and now has them knocking on the top flight door.
Zvolen will keep this tight while Komarno need to break down
However, they conceded three in a recent loss to Šamorín before taking a 1 - 0 aggregate advantage into this second leg.
Komarno are a more pragmatic team and play a simple game based around set pieces, aerial duels and transitions. Interim coaches Kornél Saláta, Norbert Czibor and Ján Novota have steadied the ship since Komarno went through a coaching upheaval.
Players to watch
- Striker Jakub Sylvestr is the talisman and 2. liga top scorer with 22 goals, but his strike against his former club in the first leg was the difference between the two sides.
- Viktor Tóth has also been a key provider alongside Sylvestr in the final third and Zvolen’s overall firepower and depth has seen them score 46 league goals this season.
- In Christian Emmanuel Nguidjol Bayemi they have a creator who provides plenty of assists and drives his team forward, but they are not as potent as Zvolen in the attacking third.
- Šimon Šmehyl has been their top scorer from right-back and has 6 - 7 league goals this term, so is a regular threat on set-pieces and during the counter-attack.
Sylvestr’s return adds spice to Zvolen’s victory ambitions
Odds
The bookies are giving Komarno the slight edge at 1.47 with Zvolen at 5.95 and the draw at 5.0. But that’s a bit too narrow a range considering the value that should come from the aggregate lead of the 2. liga side.
Prediction
Komarno are a top-flight team and will do everything to return there, so we’re taking them to find a way through to win this game, albeit by a slender margin.
We’re expecting a tight, cagey match with not too much in it, so the under 2.5 goals line at 2.23 is our preferred bet. Zvolen’s counter-attack threat should ensure that Komarno don’t get as many chances as they need, while the away side have enough quality to force extra time or penalties.
Goalkeeper Benjamín Száraz will have to be big when it matters for Komarno, but he and the rest of the squad should have enough to overcome their second-tier opponents in the end.
