Lech Poznan have a process for success
Lech Poznan's process
KKS Lech Poznan are odds-on to win their third Ekstraklasa game in a row when they travel to Motor Lublin for a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday. Niels Frederiksen has done a superb job since taking the reins at Poznan in July 2024, bringing structure and a process-driven possession-based game with a transition-focused approach to the club.
Lech have played some excellent football at times this term, but the Dane’s real improvement has been in the areas of tactical discipline and consistency. The Poznan club are now the best side in Poland in a very strong league with 52 points from 30 games.
Motor Lublin's approach
Motor Lublin, by contrast, are 9th with 39 points from the same number of games and will find it tough to get a positive result against the leaders. Mateusz Stolarski’s side are energetic in their approach to the game, pressing aggressively and trying to overload the wide areas to either penetrate the opposing defence or force a mistake.
The coach, who took over in March 2024, has certainly made the team more of a threat going forward and his team have scored 20 goals in 15 home league games this term.
Free-scoring Lublin can play their part
Karol Czubak has been the talisman of this team, netting 16 Ekstraklasa goals in 28 appearances, but Mbaye Ndiaye’s contribution to the cause has been very solid with two goals in Motor’s last five. They are on a two-match losing streak, however, going down 3-2 at GKS Katowice and 2-0 at Widzew Lodz, and could well have a difficult time of it against the league leaders.
Lech have won their last two matches convincingly, first thrashing Legia Warszawa 4-0 at home and then coming away to beat Pogon Szczecin 2-1. Mikael Ishak leads the line for the visitors and has been in fine form of late with 15 league goals in 27 games, four of which have come in his last five appearances.
The visitors have conceded 15 goals in 15 away league fixtures this season, so Lublin are likely to get a chance or two on Saturday.
Lech’s superiority to show on the scoresheet
This fixture always promises goals as both sides are positive and look to play an attacking style.
It should be a high-energy, end-to-end game with plenty of goalmouth action.
- The Over 2.5 Total Goals market is heavily backed at 1.4, but we feel the superior odds on Both Teams to Score - at 1.42 - are worth taking as long as both teams play their parts.
- Lech Poznan will get the win, however, with Frederiksen’s side possessing the superior form and squad to finish the better of the two teams on any given day.
- Back the away side at 1.83 for the win in this contest of direct, high-tempo attacking football against a possession-based style that can switch to vertical attacks at the drop of a hat.
- Motor Lublin will press aggressively and Lech will press in a coordinated way and shift rapidly into vertical attacks.
