- Team form: Forest's home games in the Premier League 2026/2027 have averaged 0.00 goals scored and 1.00 goals conceded.
- Away form: Spurs have averaged 0.00 goals for and 3.00 goals against in away games in the Premier League 2026/2027.
- Head-to-head: The hosts have won four of the last five head-to-head clashes between the two sides and are unbeaten in the last two home games against Spurs (W2).
Hosts have the head-to-head edge
Nottingham Forest are winless at home in the Premier League 2026/2027 (D1, L1) and they are coming into this game off the back of consecutive home losses to Leeds, so there's no obvious case for backing the hosts this weekend.
However, Spurs have also failed to win their only away game in the new season, so the early odds have this one as a fairly close game and it will be hard to go against the head-to-head record. Spurs were beaten 3-0 away to Forest in the Premier League 2025/2026 and have failed to win their last two away clashes with Forest, which does give Oliver Glasner's men the edge even if this is still likely to be a close game.
Spurs to be frustrated by Forest’s set-up
Table form
The City Ground hosts are 13th in the table with one point from two games, while Spurs have yet to get off the mark after one game played in 17th. Forest have been fairly inconsistent themselves with two wins, a draw and two defeats in their last five games, but the 2-2 draw at Liverpool was a very positive result and it was followed by two home defeats to Leeds.
Tactical setup
Glasner likes to set Forest up in a compact 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-3 with a defensive shape designed to soak up pressure and then hit teams quickly on the counter attack. Spurs under Roberto De Zerbi will want to press Forest and get them playing under pressure and there should be chances to play on the break as a result, but they'll likely be frustrated when they're out of the ball as well.
Under 2.5 goals looks a safer option
That's not to mention that De Zerbi is attempting to mould Spurs into a possession-based team with high press, so there's definitely a case for this being a low-scoring game, even though the 5-1 win over Charlton in the cup last time out showed that Spurs can play and score in big numbers when they're firing.
Spurs are favoured to make this a cagey game as they bid to get their first Premier League 2026/2027 away win in the second round of away fixtures, and that's not something to count on. 2.48 for Spurs is a bit low considering the Forest are 2.74 and the draw is 3.35. Under 2.5 goals is a solid alternative at 1.8 as a cagey chess match will ensue.
- Dan Ndoye is Forest's main goal threat and he's already chipped in with a goal in two games in Premier League 2026/2027.
- Morgan Gibbs-White is pulling the strings with one assist in two Premier League 2026/2027 games.
