- Home form: Rennes have conceded four goals in two home games this season despite a win and a draw.
- Away form: Marseille have conceded two goals in one away game this season, having won none, drawn none and lost one.
Rennes vs Marseille odds too tight
Rennes will be favourites to beat Olympique Marseille in what is likely to be a close and lively Ligue 1 2026/2027 game at Roazhon Park on Friday. The odds, however, don't look quite right to us and Les Olympiens are the side worth a bet on here.
Rennes are just 2.36 favorites, although it's Marseille at 2.62 and the draw at 3.8 that should really be the biggest odds on offer based on the respective starts the two clubs have made to their Ligue 1 2026/2027 campaigns.
The hosts sit fifth in the table with four points from a possible six, while Marseille are eighth with three. Rennes are unbeaten at home after beating Le Mans 3-2 and drawing with PSG 2-2, but have given up four goals in those two home fixtures, which doesn't bode well for Marseille, who have started their away campaign on the back foot.

Recent results
Marseille crushed Strasbourg 4-0 in their first Ligue 1 2026/2027 game, but followed it up with a 2-0 away defeat at Monaco. That result seems to indicate a vulnerability in Les Olympiens' away performance that they will have to overcome to make a winning move in the French standings.
Head-to-head
The head-to-head record also favours the visitors, who have won four of the last five meetings with Rennes in all competitions. They beat the Rouge et Noir 3-1 at home in Ligue 1 2025/2026 three months ago.
Tactics
Franck Haise's Rennes have started the season by pressing high and playing vertically with good width from their wing-backs. Bruno Genesio's Marseille have been more structured, building up in a controlled way and being tactical in their structure.
Game could be tight, but hosts can win
A contrast in styles should make this a really interesting game, albeit not a classic. Rennes will aim to get at Marseille while Marseille will try to stay compact and pick their moments to press forward.
Backing both teams to score at 1.45 looks the sharpest bet on the match result, but with Rennes generating so much pressure at home, the home side are our pick to win.
- Esteban Lepaul is Rennes' key man with three goals in two Ligue 1 2026/2027 matches and Adrien Thomasson has been the team's playmaker with two assists in as many Ligue 1 2026/2027 matches.
- Amine Gouiri looks to be Marseille's best finisher with a brace to his name so far while Igor Paixao has been a consistent threat, scoring four of his side's nine goals in their last five matches.
