Match outlook:
Wisła Krakow go into the Ekstraklasa 2026-2027 game as strong favorites with the bookmakers, but there are a few reasons for believing GKS Dospel Katowice can keep it close in Sunday's matchup at Stadion Miejski im. Henryka Reymana.
Odds and recent meetings:
- The odds for Wisla are 2.34 with the draw available at 3.4 and GKS at 2.86, which seems a bit out of kilter considering the home team have won two of the last three meetings and the visitors have not won their last match against Wisla Kraków.
- Rafał Górak's side did hit back with a 5-2 home win against 1. Division 2023/2024 promotion rivals, but they have gone three consecutive games without a loss.
- GKS arrive in mixed-to-steady shape after a 0-0 draw at Piast Gliwice, a 2-2 home draw with Jagiellonia Białystok and a 1-1 away draw with Pogon Szczecin.
GKS form and away record:
The Orange and Blues' away record is hardly spectacular with four draws and two defeats from their six trips and having conceded 14 times in those fixtures does not exactly bode well for this trip to face the division's second-most prolific side.
Manager and style:
Mariusz Jop has really got Wisła Krakow moving in the right direction since he took over on 24 September 2024 and his side's aggressive pressing and vertical tempo has given them a front-foot identity that is hard to contain.
Górnik can be a tricky nut to crack
GKS Dospel Katowice, who have been in the Polish second tier for many years, can be awkward opponents for more illustrious clubs because Górak's men are compact in their press and transition well by using direct play. GKS Dospel Katowice's away record is not great, but they have been drawing, rather than losing, of late and their home form does not suggest they will be pushed over by this week's opponents.
Under 2.5 goals at 1.83 looks a strong alternative angle to the Wisła win bet for a few small stakes, especially considering both teams have been more controlled and careful than open and reckless recently. Backing the hosts to get it done on home form and momentum, however, still seems the most obvious play here. Marko Bozic has been a livewire for Wisła in the last five, scoring three of their seven goals, and he looks the best bet in the scorer odds.
