- Team form: AGF are unbeaten in their last five competitive games (Won 2, drawn 3) and are expected to be tough to beat, again, on Monday.
- Recent form: Viborg’s form is mixed with three wins and two losses in the last five, but they were impressive at home to FC Nordsjælland last time out.
- Head-to-head: AGF have won two of their last four meetings with Viborg in the Superliga, drawn the other two, including a 5-2 win in February 2026.
Tough-to-beat Aarhus side will be hard to beat
AGF Aarhus should prove a tough opponent when they travel north to face Viborg FF in a 2026 Superliga Championship Group matchup on Monday that could determine both teams’ fate come the end of the season. AGF, under Jakob Poulsen’s innovative and attacking football philosophy, have already done enough to put themselves in the position of leaders of the Superliga with around 50 points, and Viborg are mid-table of the top six on low- to mid-30s points.
Viborg like to play fast and furious, directly and vertically, trying to hurt the opponents on the break, in the wide channels and behind the back line by playing the ball early and quickly.
AGF are more structured and possessive
Tactics and setup
AGF are more of a structured, possession-based side, who can play in many different front three shapes, press high to win the ball back and like to control the game and create overloads to carve through opponents. It should be an interesting matchup with the fast-flowing transitions of Viborg against the patient build-up and attacking depth of AGF.
Form and key players
Poulsen faces his former club in this matchup; his team has won two and drawn three in their last five in all competitions.
- Viborg’s Hjalte Bidstrup has been an excellent creator of chances and driver of the transition game, scoring one in the win over Nordsjælland and driving them to victory.
- AGF’s Kevin Yakob, who scored two in the 5-2 February win over Viborg, is a more natural goalscorer and creates chances from midfield.
Both teams to score is the best bet
AGF are 2.2 favourites to take all three points from the clash at Energi Viborg Arena while Viborg are 3.1 and the draw 3.45.
Our preference is for Both Team To Score - Yes at 1.57 because we think this will be an open game with some good tempo to it, given the cool spring conditions and the need for both sides to put a statement out there. AGF are good at what they do, but Viborg can hurt opponents and have shown they can score in recent meetings with AGF.
Viborg have been impressive at times in 2026, but have also had costly defensive lapses that have led to heavy defeats - like the 5-2 loss to AGF in February - while AGF are tough to break down. AGF’s last away league win at Vejle was a gritty one and they were held to draws by Brøndby and Sønderjyske, so they may have to settle for a draw in this one.
