New England Revolution have more momentum and a better league position than Columbus Crew when the two clubs face off in their MLS 2026 clash on Saturday. The Revs are seventh in the table with 33 points from 20 games while the Crew are 28th with 20 points from 21, and the only reason the hosts are favourites here is because it's a home match.
New England's form is a mixed bag but they do seem to have more life to them than Columbus. The Crew have lost their last three and gone 2-0-3 in their last five, home and away. They were beaten 1-2 at home by Canadian side CF Montreal and then 3-2 at Nashville SC last time out, so the pressure is on them to get back to winning ways.
The hosts are a little top-heavy
Columbus are a top-heavy team - with some of the best quality in MLS - but they are struggling to make a sustained impact in this MLS season. Laurent Courtois has brought back Columbus's 5-2-3/3-4-3 shape - built around overloads down the flanks and rapid re-pressing - while Marko Mitrovic has made the Revs more attack-minded and possession-based, but also more susceptible to counter-attacks.
They have had more of the ball, but the visitors have been getting it back quicker and hitting them hard on the counter. New England are also very well balanced. They have conceded 15 goals on their travels, an average of 1.67 goals per game, so could be vulnerable again here at the ScottsMiracle-Gro Field.
Revs should have enough to edge a close game
The head-to-head record suggests this should be a tight scrap with Columbus having won three of the last five meetings and New England taking the most recent one at home by a 2-1 score. The Crew have won four, drawn two and lost four of their ten home games in MLS 2026, but they have scored only 13 goals at the average rate of 1.30 per match.
So we're not going to rely on the goal markets, which are a bit skewed by the home team's favourite status, or the draw at 14/5. We would rather take the 51/20 quote for the visitors here because they have shown they can bounce back after a setback like the 2-1 defeat away to Toronto FC a fortnight ago by beating DC United 3-0 on the road.
This match will be decided by who makes the most of the transitions and flank battles because New England are much more coordinated in their pressing. Columbus' Diego Rossi has the most goals for them in MLS 2026 with six in 15 appearances, but the team's sharpest finisher right now is Rossi. For the Revolution, Carles Gil has seven in 20 games, Alhassan Yusuf has three in the last five and Jack Harrison has added three assists in that same burst.
Over 2.5 goals at 57/100 looks a better play than under 2.5 goals, while both teams to score at 1/2 fits the attacking setup of both clubs. But we will go with New England or draw in the double chance bet because of their better position in the league and the fact Columbus are on a bad run.
