The Rossoneri and Eagles are both in good form and the UEFA Europa League 2026-2027 matchup at San Siro could be a chess match on Wednesday. Gianluca Prestianni has been a livewire for Benfica, netting five goals in his side's last five matches as the Eagles have piled up 15 strikes in that span.
Tactical set-up
But Rúben Amorim's team is just as strong in the other box and this game has the potential to get stuck in the midfield areas as Amorim's back-three is much more compact than Benfica's four-man base. The Rossoneri boss has his team playing with wing-backs and lots of thrust when they get beyond the defensive line, but they are adept at controlling the build-up and snapping into the channels when they need to.
Marco Silva's men are also an explosive side, but they set up with a compact four-man base themselves and have a similar ability to transition quickly and snap into attacks. They have been pressing from the front and scoring plenty of goals, but their 3-1 home win over Gil Vicente last time out showed that they are still turning the screw at both ends.
