- Odds: The Kansas City Current are the favorites at 1.82 for Saturday's game against Boston Legacy FC, who are priced at 3.84 with the draw at 3.6.
- History: The two clubs met in NWSL 2026 earlier this season with the Current winning 1-0.
- Form: Since then, both clubs have had several personnel changes and look to have found a little rhythm.
Style clash could lead to tight game
This looks like a classic style clash, where the home side want to create chaos and the away side want to remain structurally sound, in control.
Boston's approach
Filipa Patão, who took over at Boston on 1 July 2025, has them pressing high and hard and playing a very high-risk style when they have possession. Her teams transition quickly from defence to attack and back again and often look like a team of players that just shuffled on and off the field every five minutes.
Patão's men are a livewire team and Aissata Traore, who has scored two of the club's six goals in their last five games, gives them a puncher's chance if they can spring him.
Kansas City's approach
Chris Armas took over at Kansas City on 15 November 2025 and has kept the Current compact and efficient in a 4-3-3 structure. They have made a few tweaks here and there, but not a full rebuild and the Current are a tough team to break down if they are in a position to lock down in a defensive shape.
Current can nick it
- Kansas City's recent form has been mixed with three wins, a draw and a defeat in their last five but a 3-0 loss at Orlando Pride and a 2-2 home draw against San Diego Wave FC tell you that the cracks are there for Boston to exploit.
- Temwa Chawinga, who has four of the Current's nine goals in their last five, is a menace and they can be ruthless in the final third.
- We like the BTTS-Yes bet here at 1.68 because we are expecting a competitive spot and a few chances for both teams.
- But the more likely outcome will be a close Kansas City win or draw because they have the longer NWSL experience and greater talent in the squad and are the favourites for a reason – as they should be.
