- Team form: Castellon have won two of the last three head-to-head LaLiga 2 fixtures, including a 2-0 home victory two months ago.
- Recent form: Castellon have won six, drawn three, and lost just one of their last ten in all competitions (W6, D3, L1).
Castellon have a strong home record and are in good form
Castellon boss Pablo Hernandez has worked miracles since taking over in September 2025 and has made his team very hard to beat when on top of their game. The Valencia club are based around a compact 3-4-3 formation that is disciplined in maintaining a defensive block and deadly on the transition, particularly after regaining possession in the opponent's half.
- Castellon's front three are dynamic, their wing-backs provide width and they are a real threat when on the counter.
- They have won their last two matches and are unbeaten in three after a gutsy 1-0 victory away to SD Huesca followed up by a dogged 2-1 success at home to Eibar.
Almeria must improve their away form to take the spoils
Tactics and approach
Almeria boss Rubi has had an interesting time since taking over at the Andalusian club in July 2024. He has introduced a modern 4-2-3-1 system that is all about organised possession, playing with tempo and pressing aggressively, but there have been occasions when Almeria have been too open at the back.
Form and away record
Rubi's men have won their last match, a confidence-boosting 1-0 success over Real Valladolid, but they had lost their previous two against Las Palmas and Sporting Gijon. Almeria's creative no.10 and wide attackers thrive on combinations and overloads, while their modern forward is a threat in the vertical game. Union Dep. Almeria have won just once in their last five away games in LaLiga 2 (W1, D1, L3), averaging 1.20 goals scored per away game.
In all likelihood, this will be an entertaining contest
Given the LaLiga 2 promotion-playoff stakes and the recent history of some feisty meetings, I fully expect this game to be hotly contested, with Castellon much more likely to take the win. Castellon are favorites at 1.81, Almeria are long shots at 4.55, and I think the odds favor the home side.
Both teams to score (Yes) at 1.58 is the selection for Saturday's game, as the contrast in styles should lead to an end-to-end match. Castellon are well drilled and will be very difficult to break down, whereas Almeria will look to play at a fast tempo and could get caught if their defence doesn't track back.
