- Away form: New England Revolution has won one, drawn one and lost three of five away MLS 2026 games, averaging 1.00 goals per match.
- Home form: Charlotte has won three, drawn two and lost one of six home MLS 2026 games, conceding seven goals.
Different philosophies on display
Two clubs with contrasting approaches to the game will meet in MLS 2026 on Saturday when 17th-placed Charlotte (15 points from 12 games) host fourth-placed New England Revolution (22 points from 11 matches).
Charlotte's approach
Charlotte’s style of play is best described as proactive, direct and fast-paced. Dean Smith’s team can play at various speeds and with different patterns, but they always aim to be ahead of the ball and make their best players available to attack the defense.
They have used a double pivot in their last two games, a 1-0 home defeat to New York City FC and a 3-1 home victory over Toronto FC, but it is their ability to get the ball forward quickly, with vertical passes and full-backs overlapping, that makes them dangerous.
New England's approach
New England Revolution, by contrast, are a detail-focused, structured side that will not give in to the temptation of chasing the game if they fall behind. Marko Mitrović’s side are highly-disciplined in their build-up, staying in their positions and using the tempo that No.10 Carles Gil sets to control the match and dictate the style of the contest.
Hosts have the edge in entertaining affair
New England Revolution have responded well to a 3-0 home loss to Nashville SC by beating Minnesota United 2-1 last time out, while Charlotte have won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five in MLS 2026.
There is plenty of momentum to play for and it is a clash where the winner will feel some validation of their tactical approaches and the loser will be made to reconsider.
- We think the home side has the edge for the win at 1.89, but with both clubs intent on attacking it should also be an exciting contest with both teams to score and Over 2.5 goals landing.
- Pep Biel is the main threat for Charlotte, scoring six goals in 12 MLS 2026 appearances, while Gil is New England Revolution’s top-scorer with four in 11 (two in the last five).
