- Team form: Chelsea's overall record is W3, D1, L1 over their last five games.
- Away woes: Spurs are still searching for their first away win in the Premier League 2026/2027 (D2, L1).
- Player form: Joao Pedro has been Chelsea's spark in the Premier League 2026/2027, scoring 3 goals in 4 games.
Tottenham are still a work in progress
Chelsea come into their Premier League derby showdown with Tottenham as the clear form team, however, Roberto De Zerbi's side have a few more ways to win games than the Blues currently do.
Chelsea and Tottenham both play possession football, but Roberto De Zerbi's side use press-baiting possession to drag teams out of their blocks and then progress in wide areas before pressing high intensity once the ball goes back to the opposition defence. Xabi Alonso's Blues play a similar game, although, without quite as much vertical thrust and they have a trigger for their coordinated pressing.
Tottenham have failed to capitalise on their chances though, with the visitors failing to win any of their three away games so far in the Premier League 2026/2027 (D2, L1). They were beaten 3-2 at home by Aston Villa before grinding out a 1-1 draw away to Manchester United and they have a poor overall record across all competitions this term.
Chelsea could just edge out a tight and tense derby
Form and recent results
Chelsea have been much more effective since the international break and are unbeaten in three home games in the Premier League 2026/2027 (W2, D1). Back-to-back wins – a 5-1 home victory over Bournemouth and a 2-0 win at Everton – have the Blues sitting pretty in fourth with 13 points from their first seven games.
Odds and outlook
By contrast, Spurs have three points from six games and are in 20th place. Chelsea are the favorite at 1.86 and there's a bit of value in them against their underperforming London rivals at 3.65. The 3.9 draw bet is also tempting in what could be a tense game between two very different sides.
Tactical update
Spurs are just beginning to get a grip on their style and look more potent in wide areas following the addition of Andrew Robertson from Liverpool. He has provided one assist in five games and the ball-playing defender can give Tottenham the extra creativity they need to cause Chelsea a few problems in the middle of the park on Saturday.
Stamford Bridge should be a fortress
Spurs' away record in the Premier League 2026/2027 has been blunt – 0.33 goals scored and 1.33 conceded on average per game. Chelsea's home record has been better – 3.67 goals scored and 2.00 goals conceded on average – which suggests there should be chances at both ends of the field on Saturday.
Over 2.5 goals at 1.57 and Both Teams to Score at 1.53 should both be solid bets on the basis that these two teams have played some entertaining games already this season. But Chelsea's greater home strength and much better form, combined with Tottenham's terrible recent run of W0, D3, L2, suggest the hosts are likelier winners this Saturday.
- Conor Gallagher has been Spurs' sharpest attacker in the league, scoring one goal in three games and two of Tottenham's last four goals.
- But Joao Pedro has been Chelsea's big spark, scoring three in four in the Premier League 2026/2027.
