- Team form: Tottenham are winless at home in the Premier League 2026/2027 (W0, D0, L1).
- Away form: Aston Villa are winless away from home in the Premier League 2026/2027.
- H2H stats: Spurs have averaged 2.5 scored goals and Aston Villa have averaged 1.5 goals scored at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the last 5 H2Hs.
Spurs have to be the pick at 1.97
Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham are the slight favorites ahead of Aston Villa's visit to North London on Saturday and we're going to back that up as our main selection. The head-to-head certainly has an influence here as Spurs nicked the last meeting 2-1 when they were away from home four months ago (split 1-1) and the Villans have been slow on the road this term.
Villans are without a goal scored in their two away games in the Premier League 2026/2027, so we think De Zerbi's men can nick this one. The Villans are in a worse spot in 19th place with just one point from four games and this already has the feel of a relegation battle at the bottom of the table. Spurs have managed just one better in 18th after a similarly poor start, so the pressure is on both sides to make a statement this weekend.
Villans have landed a punch already this week
Spurs build-up:
De Zerbi has certainly sharpened up Spurs in the build-up play since taking over on 31st March 2026. Tottenham's build-up focuses on controlling the ball, creating one-vs-one situations in the final third and releasing their forwards at pace.
- The 5-1 home win over Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup 2026/2027 was their sharpest showing, but the 0-2 home loss to Newcastle a few days later brought them back down to earth.
Villans style and form:
Unai Emery has had his Villans play a more direct and ruthless style since taking the reigns on 1st November 2022.
- The 3-2 win away at Club Brugge KV in the UEFA Champions League League Stage 2026/2027 was a good example of how Emery's men want to attack through the half-spaces and pounce on loose touches.
- The 1-2 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League 2026/2027 on the same day was less impressive, however, as they were blunted by a direct and physical approach.
Expect a similar clash of styles
That similar clash of footballing styles should see an intriguing game unfold at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The draw is coming in at a decent 3.55 with Aston Villa also available at 3.55, but we're taking Spurs to nick it here.
There is likely to be a lack of chances in this game, as Spurs' recent form suggests (W1, D2, L2). Villa are more blunt in attack but John McGinn has been the spark with two goals in his last five games.
Over 2.5 goals at 1.77 looks about right here for the tempo and both teams to score at 1.65 should also offer value as the visitors will create chances on the counter-attack.
